About The Department
Why to Study?
Department of History
- The Department of History is one of the oldest departments of Sariya College, Suriya.
- It was established in 1985, has undertaken a lead, in terms of achievement by its students as well as faculty members.
- Temporary affiliation in History (Hon/Gen.) was accorded to Sariya College by Ranchi university, Ranchi in 1985.
- In 2014 Temporary Affiliation was given by V.B.U., Hazaribag.
- Its Alumni had excelled in prestigious Examinations, occupied dignified positions in multifarious areas and are contributing the wellbeing and welfare society.
- The department is also proud of its learned faculty members who have adorned the department with their presence like Asst. Prof. Devendra Pandey, Asst. Prof. Atish Kumar Maldahiyar, Asst. Prof. Kartik Pd. Yadav.
- The head of the department Prof. Kartik Pd. Yadav is an Expert in Medieval India.
- Activity with many publications is his credit presently.

- To provide quality education through academic, cultural and physical activities and prepare the students as responsible and useful citizens
Departmental Highlights
The department arranges classes, organizes various co-curricular activities, Student-exchange and Teacher-exchange programme, counselling services, seminar, Quiz, remedial class, Speech Competition, guest lecture, Inter-departmental competition and encourages students for self-expression. The department helps in brining complete personality development of our students.
Course Structure
Four Year Under Graduate Programme covers MJ-I to MJ-20 or Paper -I to Paper-XX for sem.-I to Sem-VIII. This is for History Major students. Again there are papers for History Minor, MDC History, for semester VIII, there are advanced major I, II, III papers. Maximum papers have provision of both internal and external evaluation but some paper have provision of only external evaluation.
Infrastructure
The department has a separate lecture room with a lecture desk, black board, there are some History Books, Reference Books and Journals in library for History major and other students. They have access for online study materials through Inflibnet and college website.
